Naruto fs, every fight is so well thought out, and you would never find a rock lee/ gaara quality fight in hxh every side character gets a story unlike hxh Naruto wanted to be hokage of the village. Naruto has a few low moments, but he's the best developed shounen MC

Gon is mid until Chimera Ant arc and after that does not grow. I'm gonna give the edge to Naruto because Akatsuki members got more depth than Troupe. Meruem, Hisoka and Royal Guard are great butttt so are Pain, Orochimaru, Zabuza, Madara. Naruto got too many emotional moments that hit different Sasuke protecting Naruto against Haku, Zabuza & Haku death, Jiraya's death & Naruto crying over it, Asuma's death. Yorknew is good and Chimera Ant is one of the best arcs in shounen, but Naruto got a lot of great arcs. Naruto got the best fights in anime, periodt HxH got bangers, but Naruto got some of the best soundtracks in anime Naruto side characters were more explored and I care more about them more than i do HxH Gon's goal to find his dad is lame compared to Naruto's motivation to being hokage

Which series is better? - Anime? Original HxH Anime was pretty bad, so I'll use 2011, I think its better than Naruto because the latter is riddled with filler, without filler Naruto is better. Main Protagonist - Naruto, Gon is one of HxH low points for me. 6KN vs Deva Path is one of the best animated fights I've ever seen, nothing from the HxH anime is anywhere near that. Animation - Naruto has the highest highs, and the lowest lows, depends on if you value more consistency or peaks. I'd give it to Naruto for having antagonists that more directly challenge the beliefs of those the fight against. Parriston is the best antagonist in HxH but he is barely in the anime (AFAIK dark continent is not animated yet), so i'll take Meruem who is also excellent, but is he better than Nagato? Idk, Nagato's connection to Naruto/Jiraiya is what made him the perfect antagonist for the main character, Meruem was awesome but not because of his antagonism, rather because how he was more "human" than those hunting him. Both series have mostly grey villains so lets call them antagonists. Emotional moments - Naruto, it's other strenght, anime episode of Shikamaru after Akuma's death might solo tbh. Story arcs - HxH, Chimera Ants is the best manga arc I've read, period.

However Naruto's big fights are so much better animated, I'd give it to naruto because of the animation. HxH has more compelling fights regarding the tactics used in combat, the planning and execution of them, and how most fights are won by wits or having a silver bullet power (but which we have been informed beforehand). Fights - Tough one, if this was manga, I'd say HxH, but since its comparing anime, its not as easy a win. Similar with the spider, compare it to how well we know the Akatsuki, and its pretty evident Naruto explores side characters better. While both series have large rosters, I think Naruto has explored its side characters better, HxH has many characther that LOOK like they can be really cool, but haven't really been explored, most of the Zoldyc Family we know almost nothing about, we know more about Alluka, who was introduced after chimera ants, than anyone else sans Killua. Side characters - Naruto, that's its strength. The same for Naruto or Fairy Tail.- Plot - Arc vs Arc, I think they are very comparable, HxHs plot as the series advances is much better than Naruto's, but early on it was very shallow, bordering inexistant. Trust me on that one, it would be a mistake not to watch it before you die, or er- Something cliché like that.

If you like Hunter X Hunter as much as you say you do then I highly recommend watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and YuYu Hakusho, it would take too long for me to explain why you should but let's just say after you finish watching either of these animes you'll feel the same emptiness left in your stomach just as badly as when you finished HxH. God can't believe I'm actually gonna say this, watch Gintama, no kidding that anime is basically every anime genre Shounen Jump has come up with, all though 90% of it is pure comedy that will for sure make you forget whatever is going on around you, it has it's serious moments that make it so hysterical, it also makes very clever references to popular anime like DBZ, One Piece, Naruto, etc.
